Iranian authorities have as yet released no comment or confirmation of the incident. Claims by some sources that the Saviz is an intelligence-gathering vessel linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are unconfirmed. There were no initial reports of injuries; however, the vessel reportedly sustained some damage.
