Wallis and Futuna extend movement controls through at least April 25 due to COVID-19 activity. Entry ban remains in effect.
Event
Officials in Wallis and Futuna have extended existing COVID-19 measures through at least April 25. Nearly all nonessential movement remains banned. Residents must stay inside their homes unless caring for elderly or disabled relatives, obtaining food or other essential supplies, including fishing for personal consumption, or working in emergency services or other essential industries. Most nonessential businesses remain closed. Public gatherings remain prohibited, and schools remain closed. A facemask mandate also remains in effect for all public areas. Authorities could extend measures further.
Officials have also suspended passenger flights between Wallis and Futuna islands for the duration of the lockdown, though cargo flights continue.
Travel Restrictions
The border remains effectively closed as international commercial passenger flights and ships remain banned. However, officials are considering repatriation flights from New Caledonia. Permitted travelers would have to register with the flight organization office (COV) and undergo a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure.
