Cambodia: Authorities implementing less stringent COVID-19 rules in most parts of Phnom Penh through June 2 /update 3
Cambodia enacting less strict COVID-19 curbs in most of Phnom Penh through June 2. Stricter measures ongoing in some areas through May 26.
Event
Authorities have categorized most parts of Phnom Penh as yellow zones and are enforcing less stringent restrictions in these locations through June 2. Most businesses can operate on-site. Some nonessential businesses, like vocational training centers, cinemas, museums, and theaters, and schools remain closed. Specific areas are now orange zones, which enact stricter measures like stay-home rules, through May 26. Essential sectors can continue operating on-site. Only people working in essential industries or in an emergency situation, among others, can leave their homes in these zones. Areas designated as orange zones include parts of Chbar Ampov II commune, Chbar Ampov District; Stung Meanchey II and Stung Meanchey III communes, Meanchey District; Chom Chao I commune, Por Sen Chey District; Tuol Sangke I commune, Russey Keo District; and Boeung Kak II commune, Tuol Kork District. No locality in Phnom Penh is now categorized as a red zone. A 20:00-03:00 nightly curfew is in effect in all zones.
Authorities will likely maintain security protocols, like checkpoints, to enforce continued restrictions in specific areas, especially the orange zones. Some business disruptions will likely continue due to continued measures in some localities.
Advice
Heed the instructions of authorities. Avoid nonessential operations in areas impacted by the restrictions. Confirm transport reservations. Remain cooperative if questioned by law enforcement officers.
