Colombian activists and their supporters to protest in Barcelona and Tarragona, Spain, May 7. Increased security, disruptions likely.
Event
Colombian activists and their supporters will protest in Barcelona and Tarragona May 7 in solidarity with Colombians protesting against the government of that country and to denounce the alleged violent repression of those protests. The following actions are confirmed:
Barcelona: Participants will gather outside the Colombian Consulate General on Carrer de Pau Claris from 12:00.
Tarragona: Activists will rally at the Balco del Mediterrani on Passeig de les Palmeres from 18:00.
Several hundred people will likely attend each event. Additional police will likely deploy to monitor the events. The protests and related security measures will likely prompt localized transport disruptions in affected areas. Current COVID-19 measures in Spain restrict public gatherings; police may attempt to disperse activists if they are deemed to be breaching these restrictions. Significant violence is not likely.
