Increased security measures and consequent transport disruptions are likely in Port Sudan through at least late May amid heightened intercommunal tensions. Authorities imposed a state of emergency and nightly curfew in parts of Red Sea State, including from 17:00-05:00 in Port Sudan's Deem al-Nur, Qadisiyah, and Umm al-Qura neighborhoods, May 24. The move comes after tribal clashes earlier in the day left at least five people dead and 13 others wounded in Port Sudan. Officials did not immediately announce when the curfew will be lifted.
