Guatemala: Protesters block main highways nationwide June 21
Protesters block multiple highways throughout Guatemala June 21, demanding the approval of a pension bill for military veterans.

Demonstrators have built roadblocks on at least 14 roads and highways in Guatemala June 21, demanding that the National Congress approve a pension bill for military veterans.
Protesters have mainly caused disruptions in the following locations:
Ruta al Atlantico CA-9 Norte: Protests and traffic disruptions reported near the city of Sanarate and the towns of El Rancho Cuesta de Huyus in El Progreso Department, as well as in Rio Hondo in Zacapa Department. Minor clashes between security forces and protesters were reported near Rio Hondo.
Ruta a las Verapaces CA-14: Protesters have blocked the highway near La Cumbre de Salama in Baja Verapaz Department.
Ruta al Pacifico CA-9 Sur: Demonstrators have blocked the entry to San Vicente Pacaya, Guatemala Department. The highway has also been blocked in the vicinity of Puerto Quetzal, Escuintla Department.
Ruta CA-1 Occidente: Traffic blocked near Patzicia, Chimaltenango Department.
Ruta RN-1: Protesters have blocked traffic near Paso del Emigrante, Quetzaltenango Department.
Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business are likely to continue in affected areas over the coming hours. Low-level clashes are possible between protesters and police, especially if police move to forcibly disperse the protesters. Demonstrators may disrupt traffic in other areas nationwide June 21. Authorities have warned that travelers flying from La Aurora International Airport (GUA) and San Jose Airport (GSJ) should allow extra time for their journeys due to road closures and disruptions.
