Vietnam: Officials extend COVID-19 measures in Ho Chi Minh City through June 28 /update 2

Vietnam extends COVID-19 rules in Ho Chi Minh City through June 28. Curbs eased in Thanh Loc Ward, District 12, and Go Vap District.

Warning

Event

Authorities have extended COVID-19 protocols in Ho Chi Minh City through at least June 28. Go Vap District and District 12's Thanh Loc Ward, which had enacted stricter curbs due to higher COVID-19 activity, will implement the same measures as the rest of the city. Officials continue to suspend nonessential businesses, cultural, recreational, and sports activities in public venues. Gatherings remain capped at 20 people. Residents are required to maintain a two-meter distance from one another when in public. The government has encouraged people to remain at home unless for essential reasons. Locals above the age of 60 must remain at their residence, except when in a medical emergency. Several intracity and intercity bus services remain suspended. Public transport that remains operational must enforce health protocols, like requiring passengers to wear facemasks and comply with distancing measures.

Officials will likely maintain heightened security measures like setting up checkpoints across Ho Chi Minh City through at least June 28. Transport and business disruptions will probably continue to occur.

Advice

Strictly heed the instructions of authorities. Avoid all nonessential operations in areas impacted by restrictions. Confirm appointments. Remain cooperative if approached and questioned by law enforcement officers. Make allowances for likely business disruptions.
