Emergency services are responding to a passenger train derailment in the Lungau region as of the morning of July 9. The incident occurred on the Mur Valley Railway between Predlitz and Kendlbruck; at least 17 people, including several students, have been injured.

Rail traffic between Unzmarkt and Tamsweg is likely to be disrupted through at least the end of July 9. It is not clear when rail services will return to a regular schedule.
