A magnitude-6.0 offshore earthquake occurred 133 km (82 miles) north-northwest of La Serena, Coquimbo Region, at around 21:01 July 3. The tremor occurred at a depth of approximately 10 km (6 miles). Moderate-to-strong shaking likely took place near the epicenter and light-to-moderate shaking was likely felt in Coquimbo and Atacama regions, including La Serena and Copiapo. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties; significant damage is unlikely. Light aftershocks are likely over the coming days.
