Authorities declared a state of calamity through at least Sept. 8 in response to increased COVID-19 activity. Related restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the disease will remain in effect.
Domestic Measures
Domestically, public transport is operating, albeit with capacity limitations. All individuals must wear protective facemasks while in public. Nightclubs and gyms are closed; social, recreational, or cultural events may not exceed 20 people. Funeral attendance is capped at 50 people, provided social distancing measures are in place. Restaurants may operate for carryout services. Demonstrations, meetings, and conferences can take place outdoors but may not exceed 25 people.
International Travel Restrictions
Passenger flights are operating, as are humanitarian, medical, and cargo flights. All incoming travelers must produce a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before travel in order to be granted entry into Guinea-Bissau. Individuals who display symptoms or have been in contact with other travelers displaying symptoms will be screened and tested. Travelers not in possession of a COVID-19 test certificate may also face a self-isolation period. Land and sea borders are open.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
