Activists are protesting in Benghazi as of late Aug. 5. The purpose of the protest is to demand that authorities hold presidential and parliamentary elections as scheduled Dec. 24. The exact site of the protest remains unclear; however, activists have previously held protests relating to the same issue near Tibesti Hotel.

Authorities will likely increase security in the area to monitor the event. Demonstrators may cause localized transport disruptions near the protest site through late Aug. 5. Clashes are possible if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.
