Kandy Esala Perahera (Festival of the Tooth) events are taking place in Kandy through Aug. 23. Parades and other programs will mainly occur in and around the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in central Kandy. The largest events will commence at around 19:20 Aug. 13 and 11:50 Aug. 23. While organizers have prohibited the public from participating in the parades, devotees may still attempt to gather near event venues.
