Authorities plan to suspend water supply to parts of Hendala and Wattala areas of northern Colombo 10:00-22:00 Aug. 18. The cause of the outage is unclear. The disruptions will affect Alwis Town, Elakanda, Hunupitiya, Kerawalapitiya, Kiribathgoda, Mabola, Pransawatta, Wedikanda, Welikadamulla, and Wewalduwa, as well as Dalupitiya and Padiliyathuduwa roads.
While residents have relied on private water suppliers during previous water shortages, such services may be affected due to measures related to COVID-19 controls. Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Residents may experience lingering disruptions, such as low-pressure supply, even after supplies normalize.
