Additional protests are possible in Iquique, Tarapaca Region, through early October following anti-immigration demonstrations in the city Sept. 25. Demonstrators burned items and tents belonging to immigrants in protest against the alleged illegal presence of Venezuelans in the country. Security forces deployed to contain the demonstration. Protests are also possible in other locations in Tarapaca, including Alto Hospicio, Aymara, and Colchane.
Security forces will almost certainly deploy to monitor any further related gatherings. Security personnel will likely use force to disperse any unruly crowds that materialize. Road freight and business disruptions are possible near any demonstrations that occur.

As a precaution, avoid all demonstrations that may materialize through at least early October. Leave the area at the first sign of confrontations. Use alternative routes to avoid rally venues; allow additional time to reach destinations.
