Authorities have enhanced security measures in Santiago, Sept. 19 for a military parade around O'Higgins Park. Authorities have closed main routes surrounding O'Higgins Park, including Avenida Viel and Ruta 5, and traffic is being diverted in the area. Public transportation services have also been either suspended or diverted in the area.

Protesters opposing the parade have reportedly gathered along the nearby Avenida Martta, and authorities have used water cannon to disperse crowds.

Further disruptive protests are likely around the parade in the coming hours. Demonstrators may deliberately block roads and metro tracks. There is an elevated threat of violence at demonstrations, especially at unauthorized gatherings.
