Honduras: Officials extend COVID-19-related restrictions until at least Oct. 3 /update 63
Honduras extends domestic COVID-19-related controls until at least Oct. 3; international travel restrictions remain in effect.
Event
Authorities in Honduras have extended the 22:00-05:00 nightly curfew and other existing COVID-19-related restrictions until at least Oct. 3.
Domestic Measures
Health, sanitization, and other operating protocols remain in force at commercial establishments. All banks, supermarkets, shopping centers, and stores nationwide are limited to a maximum of 50-percent capacity. Businesses that are allowed to operate must ensure that all patrons wear protective facemasks, use hand sanitizer, and practice social distancing. Social gatherings are limited to no more than ten people. Bars, nightclubs, theaters, cinemas, gyms, sporting centers, and convention centers are closed; certain other types of establishments that host large group gatherings also remain closed. Leaving home during curfew hours is generally limited to essential workers and emergencies, among other exceptions.
International Travel Restrictions
All travelers must present a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival in Honduras; travelers who can prove having been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days before travel are exempt from the testing requirement. Travelers arriving via air must also complete a pre-arrival (prechequeo) travel form. Passengers traveling via the country's land borders are also required to complete the online travel form. Travelers may be subject to additional COVID-19 testing upon arrival. Those who present symptoms, test positive or have been in contact with a person suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 may be required to quarantine. Wearing a facemask is required at all times while traveling.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, tighten, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on local disease activity.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
