Poland: Healthcare workers to protest in Warsaw Sept. 11
Healthcare workers will protest in Warsaw, Poland, from 12:00 Sept. 11. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.
Event
Organizations representing healthcare workers and healthcare facilities will lead a protest march, dubbed "the Great Protest of Healthcare Workers," in Warsaw Sept. 11. Participants will march from Plac Krasinskich to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister on Aleje Ujazdowskie, starting 12:00. Although the exact route is unclear, the march will pause for rallies at the Ministry of Health on Miodowa Street, Parliament (Sejm) on Wiejska, and the Presidential Palace on Krakowskie Przedmiescie. Organizers are demanding changes to the healthcare sector to ensure improved conditions for staff and patients. Attendance could exceed several thousand.
Additional police will be deployed to monitor and facilitate the march. Large crowds and related security measures, including possible road closures or movement restrictions, will likely prompt localized disruptions in affected areas; public transport may be canceled or diverted. Isolated skirmishes between police and protesters are possible, particularly if activists attempt to breach any security cordons. Bystanders are unlikely to be directly targeted in any violence but would face an indirect threat of harm.
