The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced that water outages would occur in parts of Kalutara District, Western Province, through 02:00 Sept. 11 due to maintenance works. Affected areas include Aluthgama, Bentota, Beruwala, Bombuwala, Dharga Town, Kaluwamodara, Moragalla, Payagala, Pilaminawatta, Pothupitiya, Wadduwa, and Waskaduwa.

Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Prolonged and recurrent water supply disruptions are possible in the coming days if maintenance work continues beyond the planned schedule.

The impact area is around 32 km (20 miles) south-southeast of Colombo.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water in advance. Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
