Cambodia: Siem Reap Province extends COVID-19 restrictions through Oct. 18 /update 2
Authorities extend heightened restrictions in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, through Oct. 18. Localized restrictions ongoing.
Event
Authorities have extended ongoing measures in Siem Reap Province through Oct. 18 to curb the spread of COVID-19. The 21:00-03:00 nightly curfew remains in effect. Essential services, including goods transport, are exempt from the curfew. Several establishments must remain closed, including nightclubs, casinos, museums, cinemas, and gyms. Officials are banning gatherings with more than 10 people; individuals must receive official permission to hold gatherings that exceed permitted attendance numbers. Officials continue to enforce enhanced localized measures in high-risk cities and towns. Authorities have closed off several high-risk areas across the province, including parts of Damdek and Roulous Commune. Officials will likely continue to modify local restrictions in the coming days to respond to disease activity.
Advice
Strictly heed the instructions of authorities. Avoid all nonessential operations in areas impacted by restrictions. Confirm appointments. Remain cooperative if approached and questioned by law enforcement officers. Emphasize basic health precautions, especially frequent handwashing with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable. Practice good coughing/sneezing etiquette (i.e., covering coughs and sneezes with disposable tissue, maintaining distance from others, and washing hands). There is no evidence that the influenza vaccine, antibiotics, or antiviral medications will prevent this disease, highlighting the importance of diligent basic health precautions.
