A magnitude-5.0 earthquake occurred south of El Salvador at around 21:07 CST Oct. 31. The epicenter was about 115 km (71 miles) southeast of San Salvador, El Salvador. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 64 km (40 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout El Salvador, southeastern Guatemala, western Honduras, and far western Nicaragua. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; however, significant damage is unlikely.
