Chile: Demonstration in Santiago late Oct. 22

A demonstration is ongoing at Plaza Baquedano in Santiago late Oct. 22. Protesters gathered to commemorate the second anniversary of social unrest. Security forces have used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. Traffic disruptions, including train delays, are ongoing in the area.

Security forces are almost certain to remain at the site of the protest while it continues. Transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity into early Oct. 23. Clashes between security forces and protesters are possible.

Avoid all protests. If violence breaks out, leave the area immediately and seek shelter in a secure location. Heed the instructions of the authorities. Allow additional time for ground transport and train travel near the affected area through Oct. 23.
