A demonstration is ongoing at Plaza Baquedano in Santiago Oct. 10. Protesters gathered earlier in support of indigenous Mapuche people's rights. Security forces have used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters. Traffic disruptions, including train delays, are ongoing in the area. Demonstrators intend to march to Cerro Santa Lucia.

Security forces are almost certain to remain at the site of the protest while it continues. Transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity through Oct. 10. Clashes between authorities and protesters are possible.
