Serbia maintains COVID-19 restrictions as of Oct. 7; business and travel disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Authorities are maintaining measures imposed to combat the spread of COVID-19 as of Oct. 7.

Domestic Restrictions
Most businesses and facilities are permitted to operate subject to hygiene and social distancing measures; catering establishments can serve indoor customers until 01:00. Most gatherings of more than 500 people remain prohibited, and facemasks are mandatory in all enclosed public spaces and outdoor spaces where social distancing of at least 1.5 meters (5 feet) cannot be observed.

International Travel Restrictions
Upon arrival, unvaccinated Serbian nationals and residents must present a negative PCR or antigen test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival or a certificate of recovery from the disease in the previous six months or self-isolate for ten days. Nonresident foreign nationals must present a negative test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Travelers arriving from the US, including Serbian nationals and residents, must present a negative test result no more than 48 hours old. Citizens and residents of Serbia who are arriving directly from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Montenegro, and North Macedonia and the citizens and residents of those countries may present negative test results to health authorities up to 48 hours after arrival. Transit passengers, freight transporters, and aircraft crews are exempt from entry restrictions.

Travelers who can present proof of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 are also exempt from other entry requirements. Vaccination and recovery certificates are only accepted if issued by an authority with which the Serbian government has an agreement of reciprocity. Serbia maintains such agreements with only a few nations, including Austria, Croatia, Ireland, Germany, Romania, Turkey, Switzerland, and Spain. Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks. Local authorities are empowered to introduce stricter measures within their jurisdictions if infection rates warrant.

Advice

Heed all official advisories and remain nonconfrontational if stopped by authorities. Reconfirm all travel arrangements if traveling to, from, or via Serbia. Shipping disruptions may occur; consider delaying or rerouting shipments. Consider delaying travel if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19.
