Colombia: Authorities evacuate Camilo Daza International Airport in Cucuta and suspend flights Dec. 14 due to alleged bomb blast

Camilo Daza International Airport in Cucuta, Colombia, evacuated and flights suspended early Dec. 14 due to alleged bomb blast.

Warning

Event

Authorities have evacuated Camilo Daza International Airport (CUC) in Cucuta and suspended all flights at the facility early Dec. 14 following an alleged bomb blast. Security personnel have deployed to investigate the incident. The blast reportedly occurred at the perimeter fence north of the airport, impacting a nearby residential area. The person allegedly planting the bomb died in the explosion; no other casualties were reported.

Flights services at CUC will almost certainly remain disrupted as long as the evacuation order is in force. Once the evacuation order is rescinded, lingering disruptions are possible while authorities clear the backlog of flights. A considerably heightened security force presence will likely remain in place, possibly impeding access to CUC.

Advice

Contact relevant airlines in case of canceled flights, and plan for heightened security through Dec. 14 when transiting CUC.
