COVID-19-related measures in force across the Gambia remain largely unchanged as of Dec. 17 by comparison with those in effect during mid-November.

Domestic Measures
Establishments and facilities must adhere to strict hygiene and social distancing measures. Limited religious gatherings are permitted provided worshippers adhere to health protocols. The use of protective facemasks is mandatory in public spaces.

International Travel Restrictions
Vaccinated travelers to the Gambia are not required to present a COVID-19 PCR test; however, vaccinated persons who display symptoms of the disease must undergo a rapid diagnostic test (RDT) on arrival. If the result is positive, the traveler will be quarantined.

Unvaccinated travelers must provide a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Such travelers may also be required to submit to a second test upon arrival. Those positive for the virus on arrival must quarantine at their own expense.

All persons arriving from hotspot countries, including the UK, US, and Germany, must undergo an RDT on arrival. If the result is positive, the traveler will be quarantined. Persons arriving without the requisite documentation will likely be quarantined.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
