Event
Authorities in the Turks and Caicos Islands have updated domestic and travel restrictions Dec. 1 as part of their efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. From Dec. 1, authorities will lifted the nightly curfew; however, testing requirements for entry will be tightened and fully vaccinated individuals traveling to Turks and Caicos must present a negative COVID-19 test result.
Domestic Restrictions
The nightly curfew that was previously in effect 01:00-05:00 and the requirement for businesses to close by 23:59 have been lifted Dec. 1. The requirement for customers to present proof of being fully vaccinated to enter bars, and nightclubs, has also been lifted.
Bars and restaurants are allowed to operate at 50-percent capacity. Businesses and establishments must comply with industry-specific protocols, including employing enhanced sanitation procedures. The requirement for individuals aged two or older to wear protective facemasks in public spaces has been extended until at least Feb 28, 2022.
International Travel Restrictions
The territory's airports are open for regional and international passenger travel.
All arriving passengers must obtain a "TCI-Assured" online pre-travel authorization by providing a negative RT-PCR, antigen, or other accepted COVID-19 test, taken within 72 hours before arrival and a completed health screening questionnaire. Additionally, all visitors must have proof of insurance that covers COVID-19 medical costs. All arrivals over the age of 16 must be fully vaccinated. Children under ten years of age are exempted from testing requirements. It is advised that travelers complete and upload the pre-travel authorization at least 24 hours before boarding.
Returning residents who have not been fully vaccinated must also quarantine for ten days upon arrival, and take an additional test on day seven. If visitors test positive for COVID-19 during their travel, regardless of their vaccination status, they must also undergo a ten-day quarantine and test on day seven at their own expense.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on local disease activity.
