Belgium: Major demonstration denouncing COVID-19 measures in Brussels Jan. 30

Thousands of activists are marching through downtown Brussels the afternoon of Jan. 30 to denounce COVID-19 measures and call for the government's resignation. Participants initially gathered at Brussels-North Station before embarking on a march northwest through the city to the Atomium exhibition on Boulevard du Centenaire; the event is scheduled to conclude around 18:00. Police expect up to 40,000 people to attend the demonstration.

Increased security measures and related disruptions are likely along the march route. Skirmishes with security forces cannot be ruled out.
