Fiji: Water supply disruptions affecting parts of Suva as of Jan. 19
Municipal water supply disruptions affecting parts of Suva, Fiji, as of Jan. 19. Minimize nonessential water use.
Event
Water supply disruptions are impacting parts of Greater Suva as of Jan. 19. The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has warned that low or no water pressure could affect elevated terrain in dozens of areas throughout the city. WAF has not specified when water supplies will resume but has advised residents to store at least 2-3 days of water. The WAF will provide water trucks to the affected areas.
The water outage may lead to business disruptions, particularly for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations.
Advice
Conserve water during the outage. Contact WAF to request water trucks. Stockpile water and use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water quality after service resumes may be poor; run taps for several minutes before use.
