Thousands of supporters of President-elect Xiomara Castro remain outside the National Congress in Tegucigalpa as of Jan. 23. Castro's supporters have gathered outside congress since late Jan. 22 amid a dispute between the president-elect and members of her party over the leader of the legislature. The crowds have remained peaceful but have prevented some lawmakers from entering the building.

Security forces will almost certainly deploy to monitor the protest. Transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the rally.
