Authorities are maintaining ongoing domestic COVID-19 restrictions as of Feb. 7 to curb the spread of the virus. According to a government statement Jan. 13, the current measures will be in place through at least March before the next review. Officials have also lifted a travel ban on arrivals from Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe Feb. 7.

Domestic Measures

  • Bars and clubs must remain closed.

  • Cultural activities are prohibited.

  • Concerts and spectator attendance at competitive sporting competitions are suspended.

  • Gyms and sporting events are permitted for vaccinated patrons only, with a maximum capacity of 50 people.

  • Public gatherings are limited to 50 people.

  • Religious establishments may only admit 10 people at a time.

  • In-person classes are suspended for primary and secondary schools.

  • Restaurants and food courts are open for vaccinated patrons only.

  • Beaches are open, but picnics are not permitted.

  • Facemasks remain mandatory in public.

  • Beginning Jan. 15, individuals will be considered fully vaccinated for up to six months after their second COVID-19 vaccine dose or single-dose vaccine. Those who have recovered from COVID-19 are considered fully vaccinated for up to four months after their first positive test result. After that date, both vaccinated and recovered individuals must obtain a booster shot to remain considered fully vaccinated.

International Travel Restrictions
Vaccinated travelers:

  • A negative PCR test taken within 72 hours from the last embarkation point is necessary to enter the island.

  • A COVID-19 insurance health cover is mandatory to enter the island (Mauritian citizens are exempt).

  • All travelers must fill out the passenger locator form and the health self-declaration form. Click here for details.

  • For hotel and other accommodations stays, a mandatory antigen test is required on arrival at the hotel/accommodation and again on day five.

  • Travelers will be able to leave their accommodation after receiving a negative result from the antigen test.

Unvaccinated travelers:

  • Travelers must present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours from the last point of embarkation.

  • A COVID-19 insurance health cover is mandatory to enter the island (Mauritian citizens are exempt).

  • Individuals must book a 14-night quarantine stay in an official quarantine hotel.

  • Travelers must fill out the passenger locator form and the health self-declaration form. Click here for more.

  • Travelers will be required to stay in their hotel room for 14 nights, and meals will be delivered to their room.

  • Travelers will undertake a PCR test on arrival, day seven, and day 14.

  • After a negative PCR test on day 14, travelers will be able to leave quarantine.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
