Mexico: Student activists launch sit-in protest in Oaxaca Feb. 14

Student protesters affiliated with the Normalista movement have launched a sit-in protest around the Zocalo in Oaxaca, Oaxaca State, Feb. 14. The sit-in demonstration was preceded by a march from Fuente de las Ocho Regiones on Calzada Porfirio Diaz.

Heightened security measures and localized transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the protest. Clashes between protesters and police are possible, especially if demonstrators are disruptive or police attempt to forcibly disperse them.
