Netherlands, Ukraine: KLM suspends flights to Ukraine, Feb. 12
KLM suspends flights to Ukraine, Feb. 12; it remains unclear when flights will resume.
Event
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) suspended flights to Ukraine, effective late Feb. 12. The airline stated that the decision followed "adjusted travel advice to code red and an extensive safety analysis." The suspension coincides with increasing concerns of Russian military action in Ukraine. Several governments have updated travel advisories for Ukraine and withdrawn diplomatic and embassy officials in recent days. KLM has indicated that it is not clear when flights to Kyiv (KBP) will resume.
The potential exists that additional airlines will suspend flights to and from Ukraine in the coming days in response to threat assessments, government advisories, or conflict-related developments in Ukraine.
Advice
Reconfirm flights before departure. Ensure contingency plans account for short-notice changes to flights to or transiting Ukraine.
