Informational

Event

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) stated that an emergency water supply outage is affecting Colombo's zones 1, 7, 9, 10, and 12 through 22:00 Feb. 19 due to maintenance works. Additionally, zones 8 and 11 may experience low pressure in the water supply.

While residents have relied on private water suppliers during previous water shortages, such services may be affected due to COVID-19 measures. Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Prolonged and recurrent water supply disruptions are possible in the coming days.

Advice

Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
