Informational

Event

Port workers represented by the Unione Sindacale di Base will embark on a 24-hour strike at the Port of Genoa on March 31. Organizers are denouncing weapons shipments from the port to Ukraine. The union states there will be two small, related rallies: on Ponte Etiopia, which is within the port area, from 06:00, and on Via Ariberto Albertazzi from 10:00.

Striking workers could stage additional pickets outside of port facilities as part of their action. Localized ground transport disruptions are possible in the vicinity of any related gathering. Maritime transport disruptions and processing delays could extend for several days after the strike ends as port authorities work to clear any container backlog.

Advice

Allow additional time when routing freight through the Port of Genoa during the strike action; consider alternative shipping methods for critical cargoes. Avoid all demonstrations as a routine precaution and to mitigate possible disruption.
