Libya: Domestic east-west air travel resumes as of March 23

Event

Libyan authorities have resumed domestic air travel between the eastern and western parts of the country as of March 23. Political disagreements between the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity (GNU) and the newly formed Government National Solidarity (GNS) prompted the shutdown of the country's domestic air travel in early March between airports in Libya's east and west. Despite the suspension of flights between eastern and western Libya, flights to the south and oilfields were not impacted.

The Mitiga International Airport (MJI) in Tripoli has stated that air travel has resumed to airports in Tobruk (TOB), Labraq (LAQ), and Benina (BEN) in eastern Libya. Misrata Airport (MRA) has also announced the resumption of flights to BEN.
