Authorities tightening COVID-19 measures in Jiaxing in Zhejiang Province, China, as of April 6. Commercial disruptions possible.

Warning

Event

Officials are tightening restrictions in the Haining area of Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, as of late April 6 due to increasing COVID-19 activity. Authorities have designated Haichang, Haizhou, Kipishi, and Maqiao streets, as especially high-risk and are likely to restrict entry and exit from those areas. Authorities have closed all markets, pharmacies, and other businesses in Haining. Officials recommend residents follow health and safety measures, including wearing masks and washing hands. Enhanced measures, such as restricting access to certain areas, may be enforced in other areas of the city in the coming days. Officials may require residents in high-risk areas to stay home.

Additional measures are likely if there are new COVID-19 cases. Strict controls, such as stay-at-home orders and closure of nonessential businesses, may be expanded to more locations. The government may impose gathering, business, and travel restrictions in other parts of Zhejiang Province as a precaution if new cases emerge. Other provincial and municipal governments may require individuals who have recently traveled to areas with higher disease activity to undergo COVID-19 testing and/or mandatory institutional quarantine periods.

Advice

Strictly heed the instructions of authorities. Remain cooperative if approached and questioned by law enforcement officers. Confirm appointments and travel reservations due to possible restrictions.
