Colombia: Authorities maintain most COVID-19-related restrictions as of April 20 /update 45
Colombia keeps COVID-19-related controls largely unchanged as of April 20; domestic measures and international travel restrictions in place.
Event
As of April 20, Colombia's COVID-19-related domestic measures and international travel restrictions remain largely unchanged by comparison with those that were in place during early March.
Domestic Measures
All persons aged 12 years and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter certain businesses and facilities, including restaurants, clubs, museums, and cinemas, or to attend mass events, such as concerts and sports matches.
All individuals must wear facemasks in indoor public settings and observe social distancing whenever possible. However, authorities have lifted requirements for individuals to wear facemasks outdoors in municipalities where 70 percent of the population is fully vaccinated. Wearing a facemask in outdoor settings is still mandatory in all municipalities where fewer than 70 percent of the population is vaccinated.
International Travel Restrictions
All travelers aged 18 years and older must present a negative result from a PCR test taken within 72 hours or an antigen test taken within 48 hours before departure to be allowed entry into Colombia.
Nonresident foreign nationals aged 18 and older must present proof of having received at least one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine to enter Colombia. Completely unvaccinated individuals will be denied entry.
Colombian nationals, permanent residents, and diplomats who do not meet the vaccination requirements may enter the country. People arriving on cruise ships must be fully vaccinated and have a negative result from a PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival.
All travelers wishing to enter Colombia need to complete the "Check-Mig" online form between 24 hours and one hour before departure; they must also comply with regulations associated with contact tracing upon arrival. Additionally, travelers must complete the online form before leaving Colombia. Individuals who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, have recently tested positive for the virus, or have been in close contact with a person with COVID-19 cannot enter the country. All travelers over the age of two must wear a protective facemask during their flight and at the airport.
Authorities could further tighten, reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
