The self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) has launched a security operation in the southwest of the country following a bombing attack against one of its security checkpoints in Umm Al Aranib on April 18. The attack injured three LNA fighters. The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack. The objective of the LNA's military operation is to clear the region of IS hideouts.

Increased security is likely for the duration of the operation. Clashes between IS and LNA forces are likely. Security operations could result in localized transport and business disruptions.
