Poland: Air traffic controllers call off mass resignation April 28 /update 1

Polish authorities reach deal with air traffic controllers April 28 to avoid mass resignation. Flights to proceed normally.

Informational

Event

As of April 28 Polish authorities have reached a temporary deal with the union that represents the country's air traffic controllers to avoid the controllers' planned mass resignation May 1. Flights to and from Poland will likely proceed normally May 1 and beyond.

Polish air traffic controllers had planned to resign en masse May 1 amid a labor dispute over pay and working conditions. The mass resignation would have forced Polish authorities to implement major restrictions on flights to and from Poland, especially to and from Warsaw. Authorities are rescinding the planned restrictions. Minor disruptions are still possible, and travelers may experience long lines at check-in and customer service desks.

The authorities and the union will continue to negotiate over a permanent deal.

Advice

Confirm all flights. Allow extra time for transit through Polish airports.
