Warning

Event

Portuguese authorities have updated the country's COVID-19-related international travel restrictions. As of April 28, all international travelers, regardless of their origin or purpose of travel, are permitted entry. All travelers ages 12 and older must possess one of the following:

  • A valid EU Digital COVID Certificate indicating full vaccination against COVID-19 or an accepted vaccination certificate issued by a third country under reciprocal conditions; for a full list of countries with accepted vaccination certificates, click here

  • A valid EU Digital COVID Certificate indicating recovery from COVID-19 or a recovery certificate issued by a third country under reciprocal conditions

  • A negative result from a PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure

  • A negative result from a rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours before departure

Domestic Measures
Most COVID-19-related domestic measures have been lifted in mainland Portugal. Wearing a facemask is no longer mandatory in most enclosed public spaces but remains required for individuals ages 10 and older in healthcare facilities and on public transport. Stricter measures are in place on Madeira and Porto Santo as well as the Azores; individuals must satisfy test or vaccination requirements to enter certain facilities.

International Travel Restrictions
Passengers under the age of 12 are exempt from providing any COVID-19-related entry documentation, including a negative test result or proof of vaccination or recovery. There are no COVID-19-related entry restrictions for travelers to Madeira. For further information regarding entry requirements, including valid vaccination and recovery certificates, click here.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
