Authorities in the Bahamas to ease some COVID-19-related international travel restrictions as of June 19.

Warning

Event

Authorities in the Bahamas have announced plans to ease the country's COVID-19-related international travel restrictions. From June 19, travelers to the country will no longer be required to submit a Bahamas Travel Health Visa Trip Application prior to travel. Furthermore, authorities will no longer require fully vaccinated travelers to have a negative COVID-19 test result to enter the country; a negative COVID-19 test will not be required for inter-island travel, regardless of vaccination status.

Domestic Measures
Officials require individuals to wear facemasks in most indoor public places. Indoor social gatherings must be held at a private residence and with no more than 40 people, provided they comply with COVID-19-related safety protocols. Outdoor social gatherings can host no more than 100 people. Public transport and taxi services may operate at a maximum of 50 percent capacity.

International Travel Restrictions
Travelers must adhere to the following international travel restrictions to enter the country effective June 19:

  • Travelers who are vaccinated must provide proof of vaccination status to enter the Bahamas to avoid the need for a pre-travel COVID-19 test.

  • Unvaccinated travelers ages 2 and older must present a negative result from a PCR or an antigen test taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to the date of arrival to the Bahamas. Self-administered tests are not accepted.

  • Children under the age of 2 are exempt from testing requirements.

  • COVID-19 testing is not required for persons traveling inter-island (domestic) within The Bahamas, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status (unvaccinated or fully vaccinated).

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
