At least one person has been reported killed and more than 30 injured following a magnitude-5.6 earthquake in southern Iran June 25. All of the casualties occurred on Kish Island, Iran. The earthquake occurred around 08:07 June 25, with an epicenter about 30 km (19 miles) northeast of the island. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light-to-moderate shaking was felt in parts of southern Iran. Weak to light shaking was also felt in northern areas of the UAE, with no damages or casualties reported. Iranian authorities may report further casualties and damage as they conduct comprehensive damage assessments and reach rural areas. Aftershocks are likely over the coming days.

Officials may temporarily shut down transportation infrastructure in the tremor zone to check for damage. Minor disruptions could occur during shutdowns, but service will likely resume quickly if no damage is found. Utility outages are possible, particularly near the earthquake's epicenter.
