New Caledonia: Bus service disruptions to continue in Noumea and surrounding areas through at least June 16
Bus disruptions to continue in Noumea and surrounding areas in New Caledonia through at least June 16. Plan for some route disruptions.
Event
Transport operators are suspending bus services in Noumea and surrounding areas following attacks on coaches south of Mont-Dore in recent days. The action is affecting several Taneo routes, including L1, L2, L7, L8, D5, D6, D7, M2, M3, M4, P1, P2, P3, and P3, in the capital June 8. Transport providers will continue to suspend service on the M2 and M3 lines through June 16; services on the M4 and L8 routes will not operate south of Mont-Dore during this period.
Increased demand for alternative transport is likely. Crowded conditions are also possible on alternative bus routes. Some commuters could resort to using their private vehicles, potentially increasing traffic congestion between Noumea and Saint Louis.
Advice
Confirm bus schedules in affected areas. Seek alternative transport, if needed. Allow additional time to reach destinations due to possible increased traffic congestion and higher demand for alternative transport services.
