Wallis and Futuna: Authorities ease some entry requirements as of June 20 /update 21

Wallis and Futuna eases some entry requirements as of June 20. Domestic measures ongoing.

Critical

Event

Authorities in Wallis and Futuna have ended a requirement for inbound passengers to quarantine in New Caledonia for seven days before flights as of June 20. Officials have also extended the testing window for a mandatory pre-departure COVID-19 PCR test to 72 hours from 48 hours.

Domestic Measures
Officials require people to wear facemasks on public transport, including flights, and transport hubs, such as Hihifo Airport (WLS) and Mata Utu and Leava quays. Social distancing measures are also in effect, but enforcement is likely uneven. Violators are subject to fines and legal action.

International Travel Restrictions
Wallis and Futuna bans most international commercial passenger flights and ships, effectively closing the border for most travelers. However, officials allow weekly flights from New Caledonia. Authorities will prioritize fully vaccinated travelers; unvaccinated travelers from all locations must continue to provide a compelling reason for travel. Permitted arrivals must hold negative results of a PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure and undergo a rapid antigen test on the day of departure.

Authorities require entrants to self-quarantine at a hotel for three days. Entrants must receive a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test on day three to exit quarantine. Officials will extend quarantine by three days for all flight passengers if one person tests positive during the quarantine period.
