Cambodia: Authorities to lift quarantine requirements for unvaccinated international travelers from July 11 /update 45
Cambodia to lift quarantine requirements for unvaccinated international travelers from July 11. Eased domestic COVID-19 measures in place.
Event
Authorities in Cambodia will lift quarantine requirements for unvaccinated and partially inoculated inbound travelers from July 11. Such travelers must take a rapid antigen test on arrival and undergo home isolation if they test positive. Passengers with severe symptoms must seek medical treatment at licensed COVID-19 hospitals in Cambodia.
Domestic Measures
Gatherings may occur without attendance limits, though participants must follow social distancing measures. Authorities have lifted the facemask mandate in outdoor areas nationwide. Domestic flight routes serving various cities, including Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, are operational.
Local authorities may implement tighter curbs, such as curfews or short-term bans on nonessential movement or commercial activity, in areas with higher COVID-19 activity. Officials in parts of the country may require individuals to show evidence that they have received a booster shot to enter some public facilities like schools, malls, and businesses.
International Travel Restrictions
Officials have lifted visa restrictions and resumed issuing tourist visas, e-visas, and exemptions for visas; the government has also restarted providing visa-on-arrival services for vaccinated travelers. Individuals may submit applications for tourist visas permitting stays of up to 30 days either through a Cambodian embassy or consulate or the government's official portal by clicking here. Visa exemptions are in place for citizens of several nations, including ASEAN countries, with varying allowed duration of the visit to Cambodia.
Travelers who can enter Cambodia do not need to present COVID-19 test results before departure. Starting July 11, inbound travelers are not subject to quarantine regardless of vaccination status. Unvaccinated or partially inoculated international passengers, as well as entrants by land, must take COVID-19 tests upon arrival and undergo home isolation if they test positive. The Cambodian government does not require but encourages international arrivals to purchase medical insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment. Officials are resuming additional flights between Cambodia and several locations gradually. Several land border checkpoints, including those in Banteay Meanchey Province's Poipet Municipality and Battambang Province's Sampov Loun District, are operational.
Advice
Follow all official immigration and health screening instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Allow additional time for immigration and health screenings at all ports of entry. Consider delaying travel if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays.
