Power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh through July 31 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:

  • July 29: Outages will occur in Russey Keo, Sen Sok, and Chbar Ampov districts in Phnom Penh and Takhmao City, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

  • July 30: Power disruptions to impact Sen Sok and Por Sen Chey districts 08:00-13:00. Further planned disruptions to take place in Sen Sok district in Phnom Penh and Ang Snoul District, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

  • July 31: Electricity disruptions to occur in Dangkor and Por Sen Chey districts 08:00-13:00. Additional planned outages to take place in Meanchey, Dangkor, Por Sen Chey, and Prek Pnov districts, and Takhmao City, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are possible in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and filling stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Advice

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are working, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
