Colombia: Protesters cause significant traffic disruptions in Cali early July 27

Groups of motorcyclists are protesting in at least four locations across Cali early July 27 to denounce difficulties in obtaining the Compulsory Traffic Incident Insurance (Seguro Obligatorio de Accidentes de Transito, SOAT) in the city. Protesters are gathering under Puente de los Mil Dias, along Carrera 94 in Melendez, Portada al Mar, as well as at Plazoleta Jairo Varela, located near City Hall.

Significant transport disruptions around protests are likely to continue in the coming hours. Heightened security in the area is likely, and clashes between police and demonstrators cannot be ruled out.
