Fiji: Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting to occur in Suva July 11-14

Fiji to host annual Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Suva July 11-14. Increased security, localized transport disruptions likely.

Informational

Event

Fiji will host the 51st Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders' Meeting in Suva July 11-14. Regional leaders from PIF's 18 member states will attend the annual forum, and hundreds of additional staff and journalists will likely travel to the city for the event. Main forum events will occur at Grand Pacific Hotel and the PIF Secretariat on Ratu Sukana Road. However, official events and public engagements will take place in several locations throughout the city.

Increased security is highly likely at the Grand Pacific Hotel, PIF Secretariat, and venues hosting regional leaders. Police may temporarily block roads near event sites or to facilitate motorcades. Tight security is almost certain near Nausori International Airport (SUV) as attendees arrive and depart the country. Localized transport disruptions are likely for the duration of the meeting.

Advice

Exercise caution if operating near the Grand Pacific Hotel, Ratu Sukana Road, and other likely event venues. Allow additional time for transport through the evening of July 14. Follow all instructions from security personnel.
