France: Ground staff at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to strike July 8-10

Ground staff at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, to strike July 8-10; airport and flight disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Unions representing ground staff at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) have called for a strike July 8-10 to demand improved pay and working conditions. It remains unclear how many employees will participate in the work stoppage. However, similar stoppages at CDG and Paris Orly Airport (ORY) June 30-July 3 resulted in significant disruptions to flights and airport operations.

Short-notice flight delays and cancelations are likely at CDG for the duration of the labor action. Staffing shortages could cause delays during check-in and clearing security. Disruptions could persist into July 11 as airport authorities and carriers reposition aircraft and resolve passenger backlogs. Any associated demonstrations that may materialize will probably remain peaceful, but related increased security could disrupt access to airport facilities around the demonstration sites.

Advice

Confirm flights if booked to fly via CDG July 8-10. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider alternative travel arrangements if necessary. Arrive early at CDG early to allow extra time to clear passenger processing and airport security procedures.
