Unionized autorickshaw and taxi drivers across Konkan Division of Maharashtra State have canceled plans to hold an indefinite strike as of Aug. 1 after assurances from state government officials. Organizers had earlier said over 250,000 participants will cease work over demands including fare hikes and gas price reductions, among others. Service disruptions would have affected the Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Thane districts. Strikes and related protests may occur in the coming days if authorities fail to fulfill promises.
